
Allan was raised in Calgary and attended university in Calgary and in Oregon. He graduated 1982 from Pacific University in Oregon after having attended the University of Calgary. As an associate clinical professor, Allan has been fortunate to teach numerous optometry students. He is the past president of the Alberta Association of Optometrists, with Canadian Vision Care. He travels the world yearly doing eye care projects and has been doing so now for over 30 years. Allan has assisted in starting an optometry school in Malawi, Africa and is the Canadian director of Specs Eyetrain in Manila, Philippines.
Currently Allan practices at Bonavista, Sundre and Olds Eye Care. In addition, he also participates in the Sight Enhancement Clinic at the Rockyview Hospital, working with those with limited vision. He enjoys full scope family practice and finds the most enjoyable eye care to be done in third world countries when he is participating in eye projects with Canadian Vision Care.
